Outsourcing

A method in which services usually provided by the health care agency are now allocated to another agency. Many obstacles prevented delivery of ECMO and EVH services like cost, lack of orientation, the need for trained teams, etc. So, outsourcing is the solution of choice in the current economic situation. The global healthcare industry’s interest in outsourcing has grown massively in the recent years due to the industry’s drive to reduce costs while still being able to provide quality healthcare service. The outsourcing of medical services enables patients to get the best medical attention from specialized doctors. The services that can be outsourced could be anything, up to physically sending the patients to another country for treatment. Simply, why do we need outsourcing? If a hospital is going to start advanced and expensive services like ECMO, EVH, transplant, etc. It needs to:
  • Spend a lot of money to start these services, devices, disposables, etc
  • Spend a long time and a lot of money for training
  • Take the risk of low service quality at the beginning of the learning curve of the trainee
And the money benefit will not be obvious before 3-5 years. Outsourcing helps hospitals to introduce new advanced services with minimal expenses with best quality, and having net financial profit from the first case.
